NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT

MIXED SIGNAL INTEGRATION Combines Six Filters Into An 8 Pin Package

SANTA CLARA, California, November 25, 1997---Drawing on over 20 years of experience with switched capacitor design, Mixed Signal Integration today announced a Selectable Lowpass/Bandpass Filter IC that has six different filter responses. The device can be configured for seven pole Butterworth, Elliptic or Bessel lowpass responses or six pole full octave, one third octave or one sixth octave bandpass responses. The IC runs from a supply voltage of 2.7 to 5.5 V.

The MSFS1, MSFS2 and MSFS5 will operate at center frequencies up to 20 kHz while drawing 1 mA typical supply current. The MSFS3, MSFS4 and MSFS6 work to 3 kHz with only 200 uA typical supply current. These power consumption figures are much lower than previously available. The MSFS1, MSFS3, MSFS5 and MSFS6 offer all six filter responses even though they are packaged in a space saving 8 pin DIP. They have a single input, unity gain, and a fixed clock to corner ratio. The MSFS1 and MSFS3 have a 50:1 clock to corner ratio. The MSFS5 and MSFS6 have a 100:1 clock to corner ratio. The MSFS2 and MSFS4 are 16 pin versions that include all 6 responses, a four input multiplexor, externally selectable gain setting pin, power down function and a clock to corner ratio select. Gain can be selected from 0, 10 or 20 dB. The clock to corner ratio can be either 100:1 or 50:1.

The devices use a switched-capacitor filter design that reduces the need for external components. Only decoupling capacitors and an external CMOS level clock are required.

The MSFS1-6 can be applied in a range of data communications, wireless, telephony, portable and general purpose systems. They can also be employed as anti-alias filters, reconstruction filters, tracking filters, for harmonic and noise analysis, or in spectrum analyzers.

The MSFS1P is available in an 8 pin plastic DIP package for $2.75 in 1000 piece quantities. The MSFS2P is available in a 16 pin plastic DIP package for $3.50 in 1000 piece quantities. The MSFS3P, MSFS5P and MSFS6P come in an 8 pin plastic DIP. The MSFS4P is in a 16 pin plastic DIP. The MSFS1-6 are also available in SO packages.
